MALIBU CLUB
Ok so I'm not going to say to much, just that I had one of the best five days of my life. I met amazing people, worked my but off for God, sang, and played games (including four square.) I am going to post videos of the camp and some of the people. So I hope you enjoy and I apologize for the quality of the film because I filmed it on my iPod.
I might explain more later, but honestly I'm too exhausted right now.See Ya!

wYLdlife
I can't tell you too much about wYLdlife, because its for younger grades and I've never personally experienced it, but if you have a younger brother or sister, I suggest you get them to join this. They play games, talk about God, and basically do a lot of the same things as Young Life club, but for younger children! From what I have heard about it, it is an awesome club, and its the highlight of a lot of people's weeks! The kids still get to go to the same camps, just on different weeks, and the great thing is, the children get to experience YL for much longer than older kids. I wish I knew about it before grade 9, then I would've had so many more years of fun. Young Life has really helped shape who I am today. They gave me some of the best weeks of my life so far, and I excited for more! So I hope that everybody gets an opportunity to experience YL in their lifetime.
Malibu Young Life CAMP!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, so I know I was a little late on my post, but I've been kind of MIA for the past week. But I thought I would finally tell you all what this whole countdown is about. In two days (Wednesday March 24th) I will be heading north to a Young Life camp called Malibu. Not Malibu, California, but this amazing place where you go and chill out for a few days. Well you don't exactly chill, it's a work camp, where we serve God, by getting the camp ready for the summer. There are various jobs up there, like moving a bunch of lumber, mixing cement, painting rooms, and so on. This Camp is really a chance to get to know god. Last year I went to this camp a little worried and not knowing what to expect. I wasn't really sure of who God was, and what he was like, but at the end of the camp I was well on my way to building my friendship with Him. Don`t worry though, it`s not constant work, you get free time and delicious meals as well. Now I haven`t really been talking about the camp itself. Malibu is situated in the Princess Louisa Inlet, 100 miles north of Vancouver. Malibu is a beautiful place. The mountains, and the inlet, they are all just fantastic. Nothing can truly capture the beauty of this place, you just sort of have to experience it for yourself! Anyways, I will write a post of my experiences when I get back, until then, GoodBye!

Jesus
I just wanted to share what I noticed the other day, "I am" translated into french is "je suis". Now move the "i" in "suis" it becomes "je sus". Now move that to the front and it becomes "I je sus". Put "je" and "sus" together it becomes "Jesus" and the entire phrase is "I Jesus". And that all came from I am. Blows your mind eh?

YL Thursday March 10th!!
Okay so I am totally on a YL high. That's right, no weed, no drugs, no alcohol. Just YL. First we played games, like psychiatrist. Bi-Winning! Well moving on, we played hand-shake murderer, where I happened to be the murderer, and (I won't official nickname him, but for now) WWDYIM (Woman Why Do You Involve Me) Was the investigator, and somehow he randomly guessed me. unfortunate, but he was correct. Now the next game we played was Grade 10's vs. 11 and 12's (Based on Number of people) where there was a curtain, and each team randomly chose one person to stand on their side of the curtain. When the curtain dropped, the first person to yell the others name got a point. There was also a trivia game (Where I won) and well that was satisfactory. I think the main event of the night/day was the fact that it was Butter Man's Birthday! Yes, that's right, this day many years ago, the world was changed, for the man who consumes the most butter ever was born. To add an ironic point, he bought us cupcakes from a factory that uses butter in everything, I think it was called Butter. Ha ha. The talk tonight was about this Samaritan (sorry if I butchered the spelling) woman that Jesus spoke to. He asked for a drink from this well, but this woman had no idea why he would ask this of her. First, she was a woman, and second a Samaritan (may as well have consistency in my spelling), whom by the way, the Jewish hated. The story continued from there, but I believe I should be wrapping up. This just goes to show how awesome Jesus is to everybody.

Work Crew Training
So I guess as a trainee I shouldn`t be giving out to much information, but I figure I can give you a little sneak peek. First I have to give you a bit of a background on Work Crew. When, why, and where? When - This Summer!!!! Stoked! Why - To serve God and better understand ourselves and Him. Where - This extremely awesome place, the place where all dreams can come true, the place where you really think and learn about things. I have to say this is one of my most favourite places on this planet. Rockridge Canyon. You go to this perfect place, and serve God for three glorius weeks. People do various jobs here, such as Dining Hall (server), Dish Pits, Kitchen, Grounds Crew, and even House Keeping.
Now back to training. Let me tell you, I thought it might be manners and skills, but it is more of a bible study, and i enjoyed it immensley. We were asked questions about God and they were really eye opening. Times like these really increase my understanding of God and who he is to me.
Time has come for me once again to say goodbye, but in the summer I will tell you much more about Work Crew and RockRidge. Farewell for now (soon to come what is wYLd Life?)

The People of YL
Hey guys, Cyrus here, I thought that I'd tell you a little bit about the people of YL. This post will be about Leaders and all of them are completely awesome, and deserve lots of recognition. I will write another one later about attendees. If you read that one, and you know me, and you want to be added to the list, facebook me with a nick-name and I will add you. (Have to be a part of YL).
Okay, so back to the actual topic, cuz i should stay on that.... First, there's DJ S. We consider him to be the alpha male. Not necessarily because of strength contest or anything, but because he gets paid to do it, and he plans all of our events. DJ is an awesome friend. He is one of those people that you have deep conversations with. They don't just happen once either, they happen all of the time. He really connects with everybody, and he is the kind of person that you would be happy to see walk into the room.
A-Wow. The name frankly says it all. A-Wow is HILARIOUS. Seriously, you could give her a sentance, and she could change it to something that nobody would normally say, and it would still have the same meaning. A-Wow constantly makes me laugh, and I`ve gained much respect for her over the time that I have known her. She is one of those people that is totally okay with anything. Except people touching her. That is an issue. I am always laughing when we say goodbye, because of some witty comment she makes.
ButterBoy. Wait, sorry ButterMan Well he loves butter. When we go to camp he brings his own butter because the camp cannot supply his demands. He has a diet of a couple of thousands of calories everyday, and he is an absolute tank at anything. He is extremely smart and really nice. He often does part-skits at our YL Clubs and they are all entertaining.
R-Train, he may be the caboose, but not the least important. He is the sporty cool guy that everybody enjoys to have around. He`s the one that you always make those stupid-funny jokes with, and he has a kid inside himself. Which i must say, is awesome. He loves to snowboard which is dope. Cause snowboarding and skiing is like the best thing ever invented. R-Train is the one you call up to go throw a foot-ball with, or play hockey, and just generally have a sweet talk. My life personally wouln`t be the same without him.
That`s it for now folks. I will have more later on the students of YL.
But for now, farewell.

YGL First Post
Hey guys, so this is a little blog about one of my favourite things (Young Life). This is my first time doing all of this, so give me a break. First I just wanted to tell you a little bit about Young Life. It is this awesome youth group that I go to every week in North Vancouver. It isn't like any normal youth group, we play a bunch of games, laugh, chat, and at the end have a little talk about god ( and after all of these shenanigans, we head of to McDonald's to hit up some snacks). It happens every Thursday night for those who want to know. Now for future reference, I won't actually be using people's names for confidentiality reasons, but they will recieve a nickname. Young Life is a very difficult thing to explain, it's one of those things that you have to experience to realise how great it is. As an example of one of the funny, awesome games we play, I'm going to tell you a game that I participated in tonight. It was "Shower Singing", where i had to put water in my mouth, and gargle out to tunes for people to guess what it is. This is harder than it looks. Also the people there are great, and you really connect with them. They are all supportive, and don't judge whatever your backround is. There will be more to come, but for now I must go.
